INHOLLAND

Design of a school building in Amsterdam South Axis

INHOLLAND

AMSTERDAM, 2003

InHolland is one of The Netherlands' largest educational institutions. In the city of Amsterdam, a restructuring and building program has been launched in order to serve a growing number of students in modern, inviting schools. Maxwan studied potential locations for the new school buildings in the South Axis development area of Amsterdam. A sketch design, including a great variety of diverse study spaces and auditoria, has been made for two locations. One of the most important features of the design is the central entrance and meeting hall. During the day it can be used as an indoor public plaza giving access to the information desk, the restaurant, the library, a large auditorium, consulting rooms and waiting areas, as well as the elevators and staircases.
