DUINTOWN

HOEK VAN HOLLAND, 2005

The rough dune landscape, the enormous scale of the North Sea, the dynamics of the New Waterway and the small scale of the village Hoek van Holland - they all contribute to the unique character of a site that will be developed into a new high quality housing area and an attractive 4 seasons bathing resort.
At the entrance of Duintown the recreational traffic is separated from the residential traffic. Visitors of shops, restaurants, leisure program and hotel will park their cars in a garage underneath the commercial buildings. Beach visitors are directed to a large separate parking lot. Informal paths are extended from the housing area into the dunes, providing direct connections to the beach. Long vistas are established in order to let the inhabitants and the visitors experience the vastness and roughness of de Hoek.
